Classlists

Staff is in the beginning stages of creating classlists for the 2024/25 school year. This is a highly important, complex and time consuming process. If your child will NOT be attending Wildwood next year, please let the office or your child’s teacher know ASAP, so we do not include them in our deliberations.

When creating lists we consider individual student academic and social/emotional considerations, as well as work to create compatible, balanced classes.

All students have had the opportunity to request 5 peers that are a positive academic and social/emotional match for them. When refer to the lists, all 5 names on the list are treated equally.

We do not take general parent requests for classlists. If you have a request specific to an identified academic or social/emotional consideration, you may email me directly (ebrae@cbe.ab.ca). Your request will be considered, but is not guaranteed.

Toys at School

Students are not to bring toys to school. It causes distractions from learning, takes adult time away from instruction and supervision when they go missing, get broken etc. Wildwood School is not responsible for toys that come to school. There are specific instances when children require a regulation tool in the classroom. This is to be predetermined with the teacher, the item needs to be clearly labeled with the child’s name and it is 1 item only.

Wrapping Up Activities

It is so hard to believe, but we are headed into June! We wanted to provide you with some information for the last few weeks of school.

Activity Day (June 25th, all day):

In the AM, students engage in self-directed activities in the field, compound and playground. We are lucky to have Vincent Massey students here to help us run various stations. These are a mix of highly athletic (running races, target etc.) to more mellow activities such as bubbles, sidewalk chalk etc. At lunchtime, students will all go to their classrooms and have Festive Foods. In the PM, students will have a short good-bye assembly and maybe even a special surprise! Students will need to be dressed for the weather, along with sun lotion, hats and full water bottles.

Grade 6 Celebration (June 26th, 10:00am):

Our grade 6 celebration is for Grade 6 students and families only. Siblings will be welcome to come, but are under the supervision of their own families, and will sit with their families. We will begin in the gym for a presentation, including speeches, a slideshow and certificates. There will be plenty of  time for pictures. Following the presentation, families go home, and students will have a picnic lunch (their own lunch from home)  with a cupcake (provided by School Council).
