As of the writing of this message, all Alberta Teacher’s Association members (teachers) will be on strike beginning October 6th, with no return date. This is a complex time and I understand that there are varying perspectives, impacts and experiences due to this labor action.

As of Monday, October 6th:

Schools are closed. Do not send your child to school. Transportation is cancelled. Do not send your child to the bus stop.

Please find below information that may be helpful to you during this time.

The Alberta government has made financial and learning resources available to families. To access funds, eligible parents must create an account online. Registration and verification can be completed online. Families can also access a learning resources toolkit on the government’s website.

CBE is committed to keeping you informed as the situation evolves. If anything changes before Oct. 6, you will be informed. The most up-to-date information can also be found on the labour action page and messages to staff can be found on Insite.

Casino Fundraiser

Wildwood School Council has a fundraiser at Elbow River Casino on November 1 and 2, 2025 and we need volunteers. Our last casino made $80,844 to be spent on field trip bussing, in school activities, books, art supplies, and gym equipment. Volunteers fill jobs as general manager, banker, chip runner, cashier, and count room staff. No experience is necessary. Our casino advisor does a great job of explaining your role and the staff at the casino are used to having new volunteers every shift. Parents, grandparents, and friends are all welcome to volunteer and no police information check (PIC) is required. You do not need to be a Canadian citizen.

Please use the SignUp Genius link to view and volunteer for the available positions. If you have any questions about the casino fundraiser please contact Heather Audet at audet.heather@gmail.com or 403-483-2151.
