Eid

Eid Mubark! To our many families celebrating. We wish you all the best from Wildwood School.

Solar Eclipse

On Monday, April 8 a partial solar eclipse will be visible in Calgary. The solar event will begin just before noon and conclude by 2 PM, with the maximum coverage occurring at 12:43 PM.

We know that this provides a unique learning experience for students and staff in our schools; however, there can be serious impacts to vision as a result of viewing the eclipse in an unsafe manner.

During this partial solar eclipse on Monday, Wildwood will have an indoor lunch and suspend any outside activities until after 2 PM.

If your child walks home for lunch on Monday, please discuss with your child not to look at the sun to protect his/her eyes from damage by the solar eclipse.

During a solar eclipse, looking directly at the sun is dangerous. Safe viewing of the eclipse requires wearing specialized glasses or watching through a telescope or solar binoculars that have specialized lenses and should only be performed under the direction of a professional.

For more safety information can be found on the NASA website or from the Canadian Association of Optometrists.

Out of Bounds Students

Wildwood School is at ‘limited’ capacity. All CBE schools have been asked to look at enrolment and consider any out of bounds students. All out of bounds students in the community program have been accepted on a year to year basis. You may receive an email from Ms. Rae regarding your status.

School Planning | Engagement Results

Each year, we ask families to share their perspectives on our school development plan and our school budget and fees. This feedback helps us plan and make decisions for the following school year.

In the first week of March we launched a survey asking for feedback on these topics. The survey has now closed and unfortunately there were no responses to the survey. Wildwood School values our families and will continue to provide opportunities for sharing and feedback.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Boomerang Lunch

In an effort to engage students in small environmental initiatives that can have a big impact, our class is participating in the week-long Waste-Free Lunch Challenge that begins April 22nd, 2024.

School lunches are a major source of waste in Alberta – the average student’s lunch generates a total of 30 kilograms of waste per school year, or an overall average of 8,500 kilograms of waste per school per year. With your assistance, we can make a great contribution to reducing waste, every day.
